September 23, 2025 20:30~ (Japan time)
This inspection of Lobeké National Park in Cameroon, which was attended by Okayasu, Representative Director of UAPACAA Partners, and two interns, is now almost two months old.
We bring you the latest updates on the gorillas in the Mini Savannah, as well as the latest news on the "last paradise" for wild animals!

2024-2025: Lobéké's Year

Pont Cassé; Broken Bridge
Gorilla Transect
During a visit in June 2012, there was a bumper crop of wild mangoes. In the jungle, there was a huge feast of gorillas, chimpanzees, and forest elephants!
What's more, since the beginning of the year, the fruit has started to grow again when the flowers would normally bloom, which has resulted in a poor harvest this summer. Climate change is a big concern in the African jungles as well...
Petit Savannah's Bais
How about invasive?elephant grass?
When I visited the area in June last year, I was surprised to see that the mini-savanna had been completely transformed into an elephant grass field. This is good for the elephants, but it means that the sedge, an important mineral source for gorillas and monkeys, has been eradicated.
So, what about this year?
With your support,
Strengthening monitoring of the Pont Cassé and Petit Savannah
As a gorilla expert, I have been working on nature conservation in Robeque, particularly the development of a gorilla transect at the broken bridge, since 2012. This year, we will finally open the area to ecotourism and strengthen monitoring, including in the petit savanna.
